The Worthiness of Our Lord

God appointed Him (Jesus) heir of all things (Hebrews 1.2). IT makes God happy to see His Son be honored and praised for His work in life and the way He perfected His plan. Through these great accomplishments by Jesus, we can become joint-heirs with Him (Romans 8.17). Consider the greatness of Christ.

He made the worlds. For in Him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth…all things have been created through Him, and unto Him” (Colossians 1.17). Heaven and earth are made by the word of God and continue to exist by the same word (Hebrews 11.3; 2 Peter 3.7) Although the earth will decay and wax old, Jesus will never fail (Hebrews 10.10-14). He is and always will be worthy of praise.

The brightness of His glory. Looking at the sun, we only see its light, its brightness. We do no tsee the sun. The same is true when looking for God. “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him” (John 1.18). He is the image of God’s substance. He was with God and was God (John 1.1). He was in the form of God (Philippians 2.6). All of those traits qualify Jesus to represent God in the flesh. When Jesus became flesh, He was the glory of the only begotten of the Father (John 1.14).

Made purification of sins. Christ’s own blood is able to cleanse our hearts of all evil. The sacrifice of His body paved the way for redemption of man back into fellowship with God. It was Jesus’ plan to seek and save the lost (Luke 19.10). Every soul that lives should give more attention to the Savior who died so we might have hope to live eternally. Would you not honor the one who rescued you from sure death? Why not honor the one who can save you from an eternity of anguish?

Sat down at the right hand of Majesty. The honor we give Christ is not just because He shed His blood and was raised from a tomb. Realize the exalted position Jesus has in heaven. He is king, head, and ruler. He deserves some respect which we all often fail to give Him. Give Him your attention. Let Him be the priority. “Worthy is the Lamb that hath been slain to receive the power, and riches, and wisdom, and might, and honor, and glory, and blessing” (Revelation 5.12).
