More About Jesus (8)

SAVE! SAVE! SAVE! Almost every store you enter has a sign with this word on it. There is no doubt everyone loves a bargain, and we are attracted to those “40% off,” “CLEARANCE,” and “REDUCED” signs.

SAVE is a more serious term when it comes to life and death. When a doctor gives his diagnosis, it is often immediately followed by a question: “Can you SAVE her leg?” “Will you be able to SAVE the baby?” “Can you SAVE his life?”

Jesus was approached several times to SAVE a person from pain, sickness, or death, but what does the word SAVE mean when it comes to the soul? Jesus can SAVE our souls. Many fail to see the price we should have paid which was instead paid for us by the blood of Jesus (Romans 5:6-9; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

Yes, salvation is free - a free gift from God (Romans 6:23). It is available every day to SAVE us. People need to listen to the imploring words of Peter in Acts 2:40: “SAVE yourselves from this crooked generation.” Whatever you do, do not “SAVE” your salvation for later (2 Corinthians 6:2).
