Keeping Your Faith Alive (11)

When Peter fished all night but caught no fish, Jesus told him to “Put out in the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.” Peter said, “Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing: but at thy word I will let down the nets.” (Luke 5:4,5)

Taking God at His word is a difficult task for someone who wants to go through life in their own way. However, God’s word provides the only means of our salvation, hope, warning, and strength. Why? He lives up to the promises He makes. A hostile world cannot deter His commitment to man. A beloved friend will never meet or exceed the dedication of our Creator.

Joshua said, “...ye know in your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which Jehovah your God spoke concerning you…” (Joshua 23:14). You and I can trust God’s word as Joshua did. The Lord has not failed. Leadership in your home and in the church depends on how much you believe in what God says to you. He has promised to love unconditionally, forgive, hear your prayers, give you grace, and be with you always. Is that not enough to keep your faith alive? If so, you will respond to God as Samuel: “Speak, Jehovah; for thy servant heareth. (1 Samuel 3:9)
