They Shall All Be Taught Of God

If we do not long to learn from God, something is seriously wrong. Learning from God is more than a feeling or an observance of the stars, moon, and and other wonders of nature. Learning from God is a submission to being taught of Him. Jesus came to draw people to God through teaching the word (John 6:44,45). We may observe the glories of the universe or the healing of the human body and come to God because we see those wonders. Yet, how will you know about salvation, God’s will for you life, how to provide for your family, or how to develop a successful marriage? The answer is being taught of God…

Failing to being taught of God will reap the ultimate in ignorance and foolishness (Hosea 4:6; 1 Corinthians 1:25-31). Unlearned people miss out on the blessings God is willing to give those who abide in His teaching (1 Timothy 4:16). They never experience the fulfillment of what God promises those who love and keep His commandments (Matthew 5:6; 1 John 2:17)…

Psalm 1 speaks of the delight in the law of Jehovah (v. 2). Such delight is magnified in its meditation “day and night” (v. 3). Such delight is productive and sure (v. 3). The supply is readily available (v. 3). The contrast in vv. 4,5 is of the wicked who refuse to be taught of God. Which one would you rather be? It depends on whether you will allow yourself to be taught of God…

Busyness is our problem. It is keeping us from being taught of God. We are not prepared to learn because we have so many other things to consider. Our hearts and devotion are divided. We fail to take time to be taught of God, because so much of “life” surrounds us. Being so busy not to be taught of God often results in wrong decisions. Decisions we often regret. Trials we cannot handle. Bad circumstances only frustrate us. We yield to temptations. Our thoughts drift away from godliness to lust. We are more sensitive to our rights than to sin. We lose discretion. There is a lack of discipline. We make up our own spirituality (Romans 10:3). Therefore, we are not ready for a Bible class, because we are too busy for a Bible class…

Although we may not have time to be taught of God, we still want the truth. What an irony! In this age where people want to make up their own spirituality, remember the need for truth. If we really want truth, it only comes from being taught of God (John 17:17). If your life is “sinking” into sin, would you rather know the truth now or not know it at all, then later, find out you could have been saved and delivered from being cast into hell? Truth is how you sruvive in a dark world of sin. Truth is how you become an example. Truth is where conviction lies. Truth is the defense against the adversary. Truth is the discipline our life needs. Know the truth, and it will set you free (John 8:32). Devote your life to being taught of God and know Him (2 Timothy 1:12)...
