Make The Pain Go Away (4)!

Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me;

nevertheless not my will,

but thine be done…

Luke 22:42

Jesus did not relish dying upon a cross. The agony of hanging on a cross by an innocent man was painful, cruel, and humiliating. This man’s death was the ransom paid for the sins made. His pain and poverty upon the tree was for you and me. He did this to conquer spiritual death. His blood poured forth from head to foot to take the pain of our sins away. Jesus was “made to be sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). He paid a price that was not for Himself, but it was for all mankind.

Romans 6:3-6 makes this very clear: “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.” (NKJV)

Obedience to the above passage is how the pain of sin can be done away. Today is the day you have been waiting for - the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).
