Make The Pain Go Away (3)!

They that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh…

Romans 8:5

The above passage does not justify a sinful nature in man. It is stating how a mind focused on the lust of the flesh will keep its attention on what Satan offers. It desires the fun, the anticipated pleasure, and the excitement of what Satan wants. It is Satan’s means of attack upon those who do not guard their spiritual life.

Whenever someone disregards the truth of being made in the image of God, destruction often awaits. The process of painful ruin is well documented throughout scripture.

The onset of pain first develops with DECEPTION. It is a quiet, sneaky attack disguised so that you have no idea what is going on (Ephesians 4:14). Next is WANTING. Your desire for what you want overshadows anything godly. You may experience fear, anxiety, stress, or pressure which makes your wanting even stronger (Proverbs 13:25). DOING is the next step. Your want wins. What is in your mind does not go away. You must act upon what you want (Psalm 37:7,8).

Once the first three steps are taken, they are followed by REPEATING. Emotionally you are engaged. The pattern is set. Guilt throws you into a cycle that appears unending (Genesis 6:5). JUSTIFYING is often part of the process of sin. You try to explain why what you are doing is not sin. You buy a lie you hope others will purchase from you (Isaiah 5:20), because you have bought it, and it works for you. Then you DIE. Sin has reached its intended result. What a painful end to die spiritually, possibly physically (Romans 6:23; James 1:15).

HOPELESSNESS settles into your life. Can you recover? Is there a remedy? The pain has become unbearable. There is hope. Next wee, the medicine for the pain.
