Would Jesus Do What Others Do?

We often point to Jesus as our example in all areas of life (1 Peter 2:21). Indeed, He is. But we need to apply His example to what we witness others do who readily admit Jesus is their example.

Would Jesus Not Attend Every Service? Would it be reasonable to believe Jesus would NOT be present to worship God for the same reason many fail to attend today? Can you see Jesus coming to worship only because he has a first grade class to teach? Jesus gave too much for the church (Acts 20:28). It is hard to imagine Him failing to attend a worship service.

Would Jesus Hold A Grudge? There were times when Jesus was verbally and physically abused. He not only refused to quit (John 4:34), He did not retaliate with hatred and ridicule (1 Peter 2:22-24). The Lord had every reason to “get back” at those who hurt Him. He had the power to eliminate every one of them (Matthew 26:53). At the cross, He said, “Forgive them” (Luke 23:34). We are to do likewise.

Would Jesus Do Enough To “Get By”? Too many want to do the “minimum”. Jesus never compelled people to do the very least they could. He said, “Go the second mile” (Matthew 5:41). Our Lord came to “fulfill the law” (Matthew 5:17)., not watch other people obey it. How then can we conclude a Christian can be content with partial obedience? Do all that is your duty to do (Luke 17:10; Philippians 4:13).

Would Jesus Be Genuine Or Hypocritical? Do you believe Jesus faked His love for God or compassion for people? Would He rebuke someone for a sin and do it Himself? Acts 1:1 describes Jesus as one who “began both to do and to teach”. Since Jesus was genuine and not hypocritical, why would we think we could act one way on Sunday and live another way the rest of the week?

Look at your life! Would Jesus do what I do?
