Keeping Faith Alive (4): Knowing He Is Always With You

“…I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any way forsake thee…” (Hebrews 13:5). That passage has always been comforting, especially in hard, trying times. Here is the reason: God cannot be contained by a brick building or a book. He is always around. He is readily available. He is never busy not to see about what goes on in our life.

We are glad to know God is available when times are troubling. But we forget Him unless we are in a church building or reading the Bible. Our attention is diverted toward a computer screen, our checkbook, or a traffic jam. As God is there at a point of difficulty, so is He there when things are going well.

Do not allow life’s details to turn your attention away from the One who is looking “down from heaven upon the children of men” (Psalm 14:2). God is always there. He is not far from each one of us (Acts 17:27), even though we are miles away from home. It is our responsibility to keep Him close. “Draw night unto God, and he will draw nigh unto  you” (James 4:8). Do not be guilty of pushing away faith’s greatest asset – God.
