God recognized long ago that His people needed leaders to help oversee the work at each local congregation. In 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9, we have God’s outline for church leadership.
Our elders oversee the well-being of our local members. The Bible outlines specific qualifications elders must meet in serving the well-being and growth of the church. Ultimately, the elders see to the spiritual well-being of the flock they shepherd.
Our deacons, serving under the direction of the elders, are instrumental in working with the membership. These men see to the physical needs of the church, ensuring that everything is done “decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40).
