God...Is

Without faith it is impossible to place him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11.6

A little child asks, “Mommy, where did God come from?” meaning, when was God created? He is, was, and will always be. “God is Spirit” (John 4.4). Spirit, all-powerful, all-knowing, and omnipresent, created matter. Either that, or non-living, non-thinking matter created “God” and the universe. Something cannot come from nothing. Something had to always be, either spirit or matter.

Would it be logical or reasonable to believe non-living, non-thinking matter (sand, rock, oxygen, etc.) “created” thinking and loving human beings? Would the mantra, “It took millions of years” help? The religion of chance evolution has no other recourse or explanation. Try to imagine a wristwatch, which cannot think or love, being created by chance evolution over millions of years. This requires a lot of faith, does it not? Blind faith maybe? “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do not appear” (Hebrews 11.3). Non-living, non-loving matter cannot have created morality and love, much less the worlds around us.

We must not tuck tail and urn when a pseudo intellectual atheist mocks our faith in God. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…for since the creation of the world his invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise they became fools” (Romans 1.16-23).

Man can create awesome weapons of destruction, but cannot create one humble accord that will make an oak tree. Whatever our minds can create, God gave us that power to think. It was not given to us by lifeless, mindless matter. We need not worship matter, but the God who made it.
