Before We Go: 25 Important Matters

  1. Thank you! You have provided us an opportunity to grow in our years with you at Southside.
Thank you! You have allowed us to be a part of your life.
Thank you! You have given us more than we deserved.
Thank you! You have etched upon our hearts a permanent loving place which will never be removed. Never. NEVER. “We thank God upon all our remembrance of you” (Philippians 1.3).
  2. Let your marriage be godly, holy, faithful, a true reflection of God’s image, for your children’s sake, for the church’s sake. It is a means of evangelism.
  3. Read, believe, and act upon God’s promises, not daily problems.
  4. Do not let electronics control you. You control your electronics.
  5. Give the elders your submissive and willing heart and life. They appreciate cooperative sheep.
  6. Do not provide your child a screen of any kind (phone, TV, tablet, or monitor) before you provide them the sights, beauty, and discovery of God’s creation and his word.
  7. Be a man/woman of faith and exercise FAITH FULLNESS. Let God use your talent and ability with humility (Romans 12.3-5).
  8. God does more with a little than we can ever envision.
  9. Always meditate upon a way you can build the local body at Southside up in love (Ephesians 4.16).
  10. One of the pains of childhood is the inconsistency of the adult world leading them to forsake obedience to the Lord. Be thou an example.
  11. PRAY much, more, extra, abundantly, heaps, lots, diligently, without ceasing, always.
  12. Survey, not survive. Look at the opportunities God gives you and see the territory he provides for you to do his will. Never view life as “I’m just trying to make it.”
  13. Get your children ready for the world’s feelings, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors with Romans 12.2. Let them know a renewed spirit led by the Spirit of God is better than a conforming one. In order for your family to avoid the lies of the world, address those lies, then speak truth into their hearts.
  14. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18.21).
  15. Never be the cause of the pain of hypocrisy and faintness of heart. Instead, bless the church of the Lord as a Christian who will strive to be faithful, loyal, true, dependable, and genuine.
  16. Be trained today, not later, to be an elder or an elder’s wife.
  17. Provide your family, especially your children, relationships with other Christians here and elsewhere.
  18. Being a David in a Goliath world is not the time to surrender. It is the time to stand and speak truth.
  19. If you do not have priorities in line with the will of God and instead choose to just “balance” things, your children will never put God first either.
  20. Always believe the Bible. Live the example Jesus needs you to live.
  21. If you lead in an attitude, a style of dress, or a teaching, it should be humble, godly, modest, and truthful. Do not allow money, possessions, or position dictate your posture.
  22. Make sure your children are hearing your voice and the voice of God. Besides God, nobody in the world cares for your child more than you.
  23. Read and remember 1 Corinthians 16.13-14.
  24. We move with hope: Hope for the church here and our citizenship in heaven (Philippians 3.20). Let us press on to the day of reunion there.
  25. Come visit us or contact us by phone or in person should you need help and hope. Seriously!!!

Do what’s right!
