More About Jesus

What is the goal of Christ dwelling within our hearts? Ephesians 4:1,2 says we should “walk worthily of the calling wherein we were called,” so we can attain “unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” This command applies to all Christians.

Therefore, the reason for Jesus dwelling in our hearts is the more He lives in me the less I sin. Having the Lord live in me is a call to reform. If we refuse His offer to change our lives, we close the door to being in the likeness of our Savior. “Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him neither knoweth Him” (1 John 3:6).

Jesus in us not only captivates our actions, it controls the destiny we hope to achieve - living with Him (1 John 3:1,2). The hope of glory rests upon “Christ in you” (Colossians 1:27-29). People can desire heaven and talk about heaven, but unless the motive of that pursuit is Christ, the destiny will not be heaven. For heaven to be our eternal resting place, Christ must be “at home” in our hearts. “At home” does not mean comfortable or feel good. It means submission. The question is, do you want Jesus there?
