A Parent's Prayer

No matter how you raise your children, God is ultimately in control of their lives. Of course, that depends on whether the child aligns his will to the will of God.

The greatest power a parent has other than instruction and example is prayer, but how should you pray for your child?

Pray for God to teach your child. Sometimes threats, punishments, and rewards fail to teach your child. God can, through His divine providence, educate your child. It could be through your child’s friends’ immoral behavior. It could be a bad dream that left your child fearful the same thing might happen to them.

Pray you catch your child when they do evil. You may know your child is lying, stealing, or deceiving others, but you cannot catch them. Ask God to help you to catch him/her. Give you some evidence. By this, you can drive the foolishness out of him/her (Proverbs 22:15).

Pray with them. Get down next to their cheeks, cuddle, and pray. Pray for the important things going on in their lives, for the present, and future. Let them hear you ask God to help them walk with the Father. They will love you for it.
