Keeping Our Faith Alive (3)

Keep Your Promise To God

We are so dependent upon the promises of God, whether it is the rising of the sun, change of the seasons, or forgiveness of sins. God has been steady and unwavering with all He has promised to do for us (1 Corinthians 1:9; Titus 1:2).

As a Christian, consider the promises you made to God. At the time of your obedience in baptism, you vowed to be His and no one or nothing else would reign over you (1 Corinthians 6:19,20). There are not enough lines on one sheet of paper to hold the number of promises you made to God. Do you remember telling God you would stop this, start that, or would not forget to _______________?

Unkept promises cause the distance to increase between God and us. Do you remember how it felt when someone made a promise to you and did not keep it? You distanced yourself ever so further away from them.

God holds us to the vows we make (Ecclesiastes 5:1-7). We have made several: “I believe”, “I love”; “I will follow”, and “I hope”. When you keep your promises to God, you have honored Him, and you will find your faith growing and being a lighthouse to others who you see in this world. Stick to what you promised God you would do.
